We all want to have better social media engagement. Especially if you are a business that not consistent online or maybe starting out. So what is social media engagement and why is it so important?
Social media engagement is the measure of likes, comments and shares on social media. This helps with brand awareness, greater reach organically (for free not using social media ads) and return on your investment when it comes to marketing. If you can attract and engage your audience on social media you will build long term and loyal relationships with your audience. Think of it this way if they get to know, like and trust you online then they will buy from you.
So when it comes to social media engagement there are a few things to consider, ask yourself:
Here are some questions:
1. Who is your audience?
You need to know who your audience is and what they would be interested in. No point in posting on social media content that will not interest them.
2. What are their pain points?
So what is important to them and what problems have they got and do you have solutions to them? Posting content that will solve problems will instantly engage them.
3. Can you provide them with engaging and value oriented content on a daily basis?
You need to show up everyday with well thought out, interesting and content that has value. So plan ahead with a content calendar and that way you will stay focused.
4. Can you engage back on their comments?
So your content is getting interest and even some likes, don’t just post and ghost. If people leave you comments, reply with a comment and see if they engage back. Have they shared out your post?
5. Can you engage as the business on other relevant or associated social media accounts’ posts/tweets?
Don’t just think that you should post everyday and the reply to comments on your own posts, look further afield. Gain more visibility and engagement by commenting on other businesses posts. They see you and so does their audience. This could help you not only with engagement but you might even gain new followers.
6. What hashtags are you using and are they trending ones?
A hashtag “#” is a word or phrase preceded by the pound symbol which is clickable. Think of it like a topic or better still think of it like a bucket and every time you use a “#” your post, photo or video is found in that bucket. So a great website to check out is Days Of The Year and selecting relevant days for your business and turning them into hashtags will help you get seen and even some engagement.
7. Do you when’s the best time to post on each of your social media channels?
I recommend you check each of your social media channels analytics and insights to see what is the best time and best days to post. They will differ so don’t be tempted to post on Facebook and then on Instagram as they have different audiences on at different times.
In Conclusion
Social media engagement is super important. You need to show that you are interested in your audience and show them you care. By considering what you need to do such as mentioned earlier, you will then start to see a boost to your social media engagement. At the end of the day being on social media means being social, it’s a two way street!
